Wrangell

Our next stop was Wrangell, which was, I guess, equivalent to somewhere like Haast in New Zealand. Except in Wrangell there was garnet mining, and a while back the mine was deeded to the children of the town, and when the ferry or other ships come in, the children set up tables and sell garnets. Better than selling pies or bags of lollies or girl guide biscuits I guess.

The locals definitely have a sense of humour.

The dandelions were huge - and the comfrey enormous.

Do click on the picture above and read the signs - there were more in a similar vein.
